Aspects the criminal always have control over

Criminals/attackers always control the following aspects:

Time, Place and Method of attack.

The criminal decides at what time the attack will take place, where the attack will take place and how the attack will take place. This means that an attacker essentially always have the tactical advantage. There are however steps you can take to reduce this tactical advantage. While there is nothing you can do to change the method of attack, you can take steps to make it as difficult as possible for an attacker in terms of time and place i.e. exiting a shopping centre at 14h00 vs at 02h00 or walking down a busy street vs walking in a deserted alley. Due to the fact that you cannot control the method of attack that an attacker selects, the only controls you can implement is to improve your situational awareness and to receive realistic training in self defence combined with scenario training. Scenario training prepares you mentally to instinctively apply what you have learned in a real life attack situation.
