Violent crime, gender based violence, armed robberies and hijackings paralyse ordinary South Africans every day. PricweterhouseCoopers decided to empower their employees with the very best self defence training to keep them safe at home, one their way to worrk and at work.
Best self defence training to a global company
PricewaterhouseCoopers is a multinational professional services network with headquarters in London, United Kingdom. PwC ranks as the second largest professional services firm in the world and is one of the Big Four auditors, along with Deloitte, EY and KPMG. The Durban Branch recently contracted C.O.B.R.A.™ Self-Defense South Africa to train their employees in the basics of how to realistically protect themselves in today’s violent world.
The participants spent the two hour session learrning how things people believe will keep them safe, most of the time fail when a criminal attacks. Emphasis was placed on the 3 aspects criminals always control and how the “victim” can take away that advantage criminals have through their own 3-step secret formula. The participants were taught where and how to strike an attacker in such a manner that they cause injury as opposed to just hurting the attacker. They learnt how to avoid being pinned to the ground and get to their feet as fast as possible plus how to use everyday items found at home and in the office environment as improvised weapons. People spend a lot of time travelling in vehicles and as a result the risk of vehicle based abductions and car hijackings are quite high. The team learnt how to avoid being pushed, carried and dragged into a vehicle during an attempted kidnapping situation and also how to correctly behave during an armed hijacking situation.
After the session some of the participants remarked how they were amazed at what they always thought was the right thing to do is actually jeopardizing their safety. Others said that they were surprized at how easy it is to actually defend yourself if you just know what to do and when to do it.
