The Employee Wellness Department of the University of the Free State recently arranged a 2-hour practical self-defense training session for employees of the University and their families.
Criminal activity is increasing at an alarming rate in Bloemfontein and the departent realized the need to empower employees with the necessary skills to protect themselves against violent criminal attack. C.O.B.R.A. Self-Defense South Africa, a global leader in reality based self-defense were contracted to train the employees.
During the 2-hour session, particpants experienced first hand how to defend themselves using easy techniques anyone can do and even how to use everyday objects found at work or at home as improvised weapons. Participants received detailed information on criminal behaviour and how to become a harder target in the form of an e-book titled “The Psychology of Self-Defense” which was handed to all participants. Participants also received access to the C.O.B.R.A. App which contains a wealth of information relating to self protection.
